Parade Ground
Yet another Belgian band to visit Bodyfest this year and they haven't been in Sweden for over 20 years. Brothers Jean-Marc & Pierre Pauly started out along the fruitful Belgian EBM scene in the beginning of the 80's and had their first song released on the compilation "Nationale Rockmeeting" in 1982. With a more club oriented sound they were not always connected to the EBM scene but songs like "Gold Rush", "Action Replay" and "Strange World" are fantastic examples on the early EBM sound, comparable to Front 242's "Geography". "Strange World" was also introduced to the majority of EBM fans when it was included on the compilation "This is Electronic Body Music" from 1988. In the beginning of the 90's they were heavily involved in the making of Front 242's "Up Evil" and after years of slumbering the group has gotten tremendous reviews on their recent albums "Rosary" from 2007 and the brand new compilation "The Golden Years". "Rosary" showing a new side of Parade Ground with a steering towards industrial music while "The Golden Years" covering the early days from 1982 - 1988.
Close friendship and co-operation with Daniel B and Patrick Codenys from Front 242 (that of course speaks highly of Bodyfest since last year) lead to this booking and we will bewitness an act eager to celebrate it's 30th anniversary with us at Nalen this October.
PS. According to an interview with "Dark Entries" on their most memorable gig Parade Ground concludes the following: "It was in 1989 in Jönköping Sweden during a tour. The audience got so excited that we nearly had to leave the stage and find shelter backstage! That was really great!" Now the Bodyfest crowd has something to live up to!!! DS.
